This award is named after Selwyn Arthur Frances William Wyndham.

Westwood born in St Kilda in 1905, to honour the person who was instrumental and having the vision in founding Lions Youth Haven, turning a disused dairy farm into a haven for youth. Sel was awarded a Melvin Jones award for his untiring work in the community. Sel was a member of the Weston Creek Lions Club following his arrival in Canberra. This award honouring the work by Sel Westwood with the establishment of Lions Youth Haven and his endless energy of assisting the community.

Sel was a husband, father, brother and son and a true gentleman, he passed away in Canberra in 1995.
